I am a mother of four, I have 3 boys and 1 girl. Our 2 younger boys struggle with a speech delay that we are working on. With that being said, things can get a bit chaotic around here and frustration levels rise. Living and learning with these boys and the speech delays has taught me patience and a whole new understanding that people see things in so many different ways. I am a stronger person because of this and feel blessed to have these little angels. I am married to a fabulous man and am living a happy life!

Potty Training!!

I am so excited to report that both Abby & Sebastian are potty trained!  Yahoo, no more diapers!  I have forever blamed Sebastian's speech delay for him not being potty trained.  I just simply didn't think that he would understand.  On Saturday February 18th I decided that I would go ahead and begin trying to see if Abby was ready.  It was clear to me that she was ready after showing excitement for her potty.  I put a cute little pair of Dora underwear, which she loved!  Sebastian started showing a little interest in what was going on so I thought "what the heck, I'll try both of them and see how it goes."  Sebastian walked right over to the toilet and pee'd in it no problem.  I did the biggest song and dance ever to show him how proud I was.  Abby went pee in her little potty and was super proud of herself.  It was absolutely amazing the entire day!  Sebastian ran to the toilet every time and didn't have any accidents.  Abby would begin to wet herself and then stop and call for me to run her upstairs to her potty.  I was nervous to try an all nighter without diapers so while getting them ready for bed I pulled out the diapers and actually had to beg and plead with Sebastian to let me put one on him.

Feb 19th, Day 2:  They both woke up with wet diapers but as soon as they got up I changed them and put them in underwear.  Again, no accidents all day long.  Sebastian doesn't even need any prompting or reminding, he just goes all on his own.  Abby still needs prompts but goes anytime it is suggested to her.

Feb 20th,  Day 3:  NO wet diapers today, however poor Austin had to help Abby out with a poopy mess while I was away at Zumba but he handled it rather well.  I did have to wrestle Abby down to let me put a diaper on her for bed, she wanted her big girl panties.  I decided that it was time to get her off the bottle now too because she couldn't very well go to bed with a bottle of milk and expect to stay dry during the night.  That was super easy, not too much of a fuss.

Feb 21st,  Day 4:  Sebastian woke up dry and went straight to the potty right when he woke up.  I decided to brave it and send him to school in underwear instead of a diaper.  He did great, not one accident.  Abby woke up wet and was upset about it.  She is doing great without the bottle, she napped just fine today without it.

Feb 22nd, Day 5:  I have packed up all the bottles and threw them in the trash,  no more bottles in this house, yahoo!  AND, she made it thru the night with a dry diaper.
They are now both potty trained and Abby is off the bottle!
No more diapers or bottles, yahoo!!!

Congrats to both of them!

Gabe is 6 years old!!!

As I sit to write these Birthday posts the first thing that I always find myself typing is something along the lines of "Where does the time go?, # of years already?, I can't believe my baby is already _!."  But it is so true, the time does go by so fast and I just really can't believe that Gabe is already 6 years old.  It has been an amazing 6 years.  This little guy that I have been blessed with has taught me so much and I look forward to learning more from him each day.  This last year has been a big year for Gabe.  He FINALLY got potty trained, he started kindergarten, we had his name legally changed from Vincent Gabriel to Gabriel Vincent, and a few other small things but those were our major monumental experiences.
Gabe began his day with going to school.  He wore a button/ribbon to school that said "Birthday Boy" on it.  Once he got to school they gave him a Birthday crown to wear.  We picked him up from school a little early because he had his well child check up appt.

To celebrate Gabe's Birthday we went to Jungle Jim's and had a small party for him.  Nana, Grandpa Jim, Grandma Marci, Daddy, Austin, Sebastian, Abby, & Me.  The kids had such a great time riding all of the rides.  This was the first time we have ever gone there and I love it.  It is small enough that it isn't too overwhelming yet it is big enough to hold a roller coaster, swings, bumper cars, a few other rides, a jungle jim to climb thru, and token video games.  The kids had a great time running from ride to ride.

Gabe is completely into Snoopy!  He loves the Peanuts gang!  Daddyo decorated the cake for him and he was so excited when he saw it.
Of course he didn't eat any of it but the adults sure enjoyed the cake.  The 3 little kids seem to think that they don't like cake and Austin didn't want any because it was Strawberry..his loss.

TIME FOR PRESENTS!!
For Christmas Gabe got a Charlie Brown, Lucy, and a Linus doll.  To add to his collection we gave him Peppermint Patty and Sally.  He also really likes Red Baron snoopy so we found a small Red Baron.  While at the Hallmark shop I ran across this gift bag that is Snoopy's dog house and of course had to grab that.  Good thing it feels pretty sturdy and is made of cardboard.
The kids were exhausted and ready to go home, yay!  That made it easy to leave.  Once we got home it was time to put the kids to bed.  Gabe gathered his Peanuts ® gang and put them in his bed and then said "Where are Marcy and Schroder?".  I guess we are going to have to try to track down some more dolls.
Happy Birthday to our little Guy!
We love you Gabe!

Well Child Check Up X 3!

We took the kiddos to the doctor today for their well child checkups.  We figured it would be easier just to get them all in at once.  Gabe for his 6 year, Sebastian for his 4 year, and Abby for her 2 year.

Gabe weighs 62 lbs and is 48" tall.  This puts him in the 95th percentile.  He is a BIG boy!  He got a flu shot in his thigh which he was not too happy about but he seems to be doing fine now.

Sebastian weighs 51 lbs!  He is 41.5".  This puts him in the 75th percentile for his height and for his weight...eek...over the 100th percentile.  Talk about a BIG boy!  The doctor suggested that we start watching what we feed him and try to get his weight under control.  He said that he hates to use the word "diet" for such a young person.  We told him about the feeding issues that we have with Sebastian and he gave us a number for a pediatric nutrionalist.  I have made that phone call already and am now waiting to hear back.  Sebastian did have to get a total of 7 shots today, one of them being the flu shot.  Poor kiddo, 4 in one thigh and 3 in the other.  He was screaming soooo loud.  He was fine just a few minutes afterward.  Also, the doctor discovered an ear infection in his right ear.  Good thing he caught it before it got worse.  He will be starting antibiotics today!  The doctor did also suggest to us that we should take both boys in and have them evaluated for Autism.  We still at this point do not have an official diagnosis for Gabe but we know he is definitely on the spectrum.  Sebastian on the other hand we don't really know.  The Doctor said it would be a good idea to have him evaluated as well because he did see some tendencies.  Boo!

Abby weighs 28 lbs and is 35" tall.  This puts her in the 50th percentile for her height.  This has gone down as she has always been above the 75th percentile.  (yay)  She is also in the 50th percentile for her weight.  She did great!  She also got a flu shot but they gave her the nasal mist and she did just fine with that.  She was so cute and so cooperative today.  She stood on the scale when told, she stood against the wall with her heels to the wall while they measured her height.  She didn't even flinch when the Dr. came close to her to examine her.  What a good girl!

Now, I just need to get Austin in for a check up since it has been a few years....
